I'm not sure where to put this, but here goes.
I want to review the Typhoon Extreme III RO/DI unit by Air, Water and Ice.
I haven't had much experience with RODI units in general, but my overall impression is that it's a very nice unit in a reasonable price range. I got mine through the manufacturer for approximately $250, not including shipping.
It seems sturdily made, with clear canisters so you can see the media.
The faucet adaptor they sent works nicely, with the bypass valve being a real plus as my family can easily use the sink without disconnecting the adaptor. The valve on that works smoothly and easily.
The tubing is standard RO with quick-connect fittings that have not yet leaked. Can't complain at all.
It is set up to be extremely easy to flush the membrane. Two valves and you're good to go. The flush kit comes preinstalled.
I'm loving the inline TDS meter. It lets me know what it is going into the DI and what it is coming out. If I want to know what my final TDS is, it only takes one button.
The installation is a bit tricky at first, but they tie tags onto each outlet so you know which is which.
It's hard for me to evaluate whether it meets its expected GPD rating of 150. My water pressure is half of optimal on a good day and the TDS in this area is VERY high. I can say it works appreciably faster than my last unit, and has a built-in water pressure meter.
It could use some detail in the instructions regarding the included TDS alarm. Not sure how to interpret the symbols.
Overall, I love it. <3 I would definitely purchase this unit again.
