I have a newer addition of some tyree pink lemonade. It is about 12" down in a 24" tank with lights about 8" above the tank. They are lit by 2 250w 14k pheonix w/ 4x54w ati blue plus(overdriven). I have had this piece for about 5 weeks. It seems to be getting a deeper red color. It is at the same level as my Red planet which is starting to color up.

From what I have heard, with too much light it will turn more yellow. Is it possible that it does not have enough light?

All of my other corals have great coloration.

My tank parameters are
Cal 450
alk 9
ph 8.2-8.4

nitrates, phos are undetectable

I personally think it is a placement issue, but not sure.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

i never co0uld keep the color seen on different sites --- i changed to MH AND T5S AND COLOR IS STARTING TO COME BACK

Maybe I will try and move it up a little higher. I just do not want to move it too much and stress it out.

Thanks gilmour. It is def growing well, it has already encrusted onto the rockwork. I will probably give it another week and see what happens before I attempt moving it.

Mine is right under a 400w 20000k halide and it is bright yellow with pink polyps. Sweet color coral. I have never had a color problem but mine has always been in a ton of light. You need to give it more light I would think.

more light please. it will encrust alot first then branch up. the new growth tips are bright yellow!

I have heard of Pink lemonades going green from lack of light but never red. I have mine up as high as possible and it is a brilliant yellow with pink polyps. This coral loves light so place it as high as you can in your tank.

I have mine about 15 inches under a 250 radium and it has a nice yellow green body with pink polyps. This colony is about 7 inches in length and was just fragged.

Mine is a under high light 2x400 watt mh, and is a brown color. I have high phosphates though, like .20 ppm.

It seems it might have been lack of intense lighting. I moved it up about 4 inches, but moved it more under the halides and the color has already improved.

Thanks everyone for your input

Blast it with light for that nice yellow and pink color. I have mine right up top under a 250w pheonix bulb. It does take a little while to settle in and get happy. Mine took about 6 months of just encrusting to finally start to grow.

wow 6 months of encrusting. is that just specific to the red planet or will other sps variety's do that? and what ones?
