Tyree Pink Lemonade in trouble

I purchased a large Tyree Pink lemonade frag from a swap last weekend. I acclimated it to my light for a few days then puttied the coral down. I noticed that part of it is bleaching at the base. No tissue loss, just turning white. I have a 6-39watt tek light with all new ATI and KZ bulbs. The coral is roughly 12" below the surface of the water. Fixture is roughly 6" above the surface of the water.

Params are as follows:

SG: 1.025
dKH: 8
Calc: 410
Mag: 1350
Temp: 80.1
pH: fluctuates from 7.88 when lights turn on to 8.05 when lights turn off
Ammo: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate 0-5
Not sure what my phosphates are.

I don't run carbon, gfo, fuge, or biopellets. I run a modified SWC 160 cone.

I am having some minor cyano issues right now. I plan on running biopellets in the near future. I have cut back feeding recently to once every other day. I used to feed 3 times a day, but my anthias croaked so no more need for feeding that often.

Thoughts?

I have mine about same height as you described with t5s, i cranked my flow up some last week and the base and one branch started to bleach.. Mabey it's getn to much flow?? Your params look ok.

Good call, I will redirect a powerhead that is aimed almost at the frag now. Lets see how that goes in a few days.

I didn't know putty can cause these problems. I won two of the large Tunze 2-part putty packs at the swap and used them to put the frags in place.

the putty sometimes heats up when mixed together so if it hits the skin on the coral it will do damage.

No putty touched the flesh of any of the sps frags. I cut the nipple of the plugs and use the rest of the plug as the glue point.

Good call rich... I learned that the hard way.. Lost a few frags to that stupid putty..

I hope I don't lose this one. Paid $25 for a 2" tall piece with branches. I won't find a deal like that again.

I'd keep a close watch on it. If it starts to lose tissue at the base I'd frag it. I hope it does well for you.
