I kinda interested in a tyree purple monster acro..

I would like to know if its hardy, growth, etc.

PLEASE post pictures

It's not hardy tyree lost his colony a few years ago, for growth. You could have a kid and watch him graduate with a masters befor you have a mini colony. Although I think mine grows rather quickly compared to what every one else says. Mine was a 1/2 inch piece about seven months avo and now has a inch encrusted base and stands at a inch tall looking like a Christmas tree with a baby tree out the aide.

Ok thanks...might not be enough of an sps expert to handle it then...is there any other extremely unusual and colorful acroporas, i really granulosas, bottlebrushes, and millis

If you like it and you own a stable take buy it. You don't need to be a expert it likes high light and high flow and good tank parameters. I think the tyree pink lemonade 20k/30k lokis, red robin and tyree ice fire enchanted are all must have sps's in every ones tank might wanna take a look at those but they are the same as the pm

ok thats true, i might just have to take my chances and see what happen, i like the pL and the 20k/30k lokis

I had mine for about a year. Started with a 1/4" grew to be about an 1" tall with a fully encrusted plug and looked like it was about to pop up a couple new nubs. Came home yesterday it RTNed!!! I'm so bummed. Now I have 1/8" of the encrusted part hanging on.

same thing with my old garf bonsai......it was depressing

The purple monster I've gotten from westcoastreefer has been a very hardy coral. He has several colonies grown from a original 1/2" frag, bred for our crappy tank conditions:)

anyway heres some pics I have.

I'm shooting with a crappy camera without the use of heavy actinics.

what color would you say it's closest to?

dang scrapz...growing gorrilla wild for you. Are you doing two part or carx?

Mines only grown and encrusted since i got it a month or so ago

It is very deep purple in the right tank Aja mine with white ish polyps.

Started with carx for the first 4 months until it failed on me then no dosing for months. Now I'm dosing 2 part with a bubble magus doser, growth has been really stable.

Here are some shots of mine. I actually have two colonies. The bigger one I grew from a decent sized frag. It took a while to color up in my tank. In fact, when I frag it the frags lose color and then slowly gain it back. It is a very sensitive coral.

heres a shot of Eddie's Purple Monster. Color & growth are definitely different.

I heard if you have water issue, the PM is among the first goner.

Here is mine in the middle, acquired 4 month ago as decent size frag, has grown quite a bit and had some new branches despite I moved it 2 times and a recent major light change (from T5 to 250W Radium)
