Hey everyone!
I bought a toadstool-one with pretty green polyps-but I was wondering what are your experiences with them?
It was in my *warmer-about 81-82 degrees* 10 gallon right after shipping for about 2 weeks and was open and happy. Took it about 3 days to open all the way.
I moved it to my 25 gallon which stays at 78 degrees. He has not opened since-about a week.

Notes:
1) Theres more particulates in my 25 than in the 10.
2) There was more intense lighting in the 10.
3) More flow in the 10 as well but also have some cyano in there.

could it just be shedding? or do I need to give him more light/something else?
Ive been dying to get one so any help would be greatly appreciated!

It might be getting ready to shed, but these corals can be very temperamental sometimes too though. IME they seem to do best with a lot of light and a lot of chaotic flow.

+1...I've moved mine through 3 tanks and sometimes it takes 2-3 weeks to get happy and open fully.

78 might not be the optimal temperature for it either. 81-83 seems to be the sweet spot for most coral.

I've kept mine with no problem, but sometimes before a shed mine close up for about 2-3 days. I've had a frag of it close up for a full month then show PE. Lighting shouldn't be a issue. I have one in a tank thats about 10 inches below T5s, but a majority of mine are at the bottom under LEDs.

When moving from tank to tank I've have mine take several weeks to adjust and get back to normal.

That makes me feel better....theres still no change. No shed or anything just not opening.

It's been about 2 weeks now...I did up the light intensity by 10% last night. It's at the bottom of the tank around 80 par now

Might be that the top of the toadstool is touching the rock. It's like a mushroom- mine get mad when the cap touches something and close for a bit.

Really? They're that touchy? Lol

Yeah, anytime something touches them they'll retract...just barely glancing mine when I'm wiping the inside of the glass will cause it. Is it attached to a rock or frag plug?

I'd put it on the sand for a while. Also, ramping the lights up 10% at one time may cause it to stay retracted a little longer. That's a bit of a jump.

I already turned it down 5% so it was only a 5% jump. I don't think I'll move it to the sand. It's only an inch below where it is now.

I bought my brother one and it opened the next day lol the regular brown kind
