Gonzo your piece, assuming it is the same one, is bright yellow in my tank, though it hasn't had much time to grow yet. 10k MH for 4 hours, 20k MH for 6, VHO Actinics.
Front and at the bottom you can see WWC Yellowtip on the right for comparison

Here is mine bright yellow under t5s. It was nice and pic when i got it now is yellow.
