ya know, i've been thinking about this. i've got a piece of rubble rock that i have a couple (well, had) paly's glued to. one is still fine. the other, i had found the paly floating around the bottom of the tank (had been lost a while, the stem was fully healed and rounded over) and glued it on the rock.
first, i fully dried the rock and let it sit outside the tank a couple minutes (dried with a towel on the spot where was going to glue). i dried the bottom of the paly off, and let it sit on top of the tank for a couple minutes. applied glue to the rock, and to the bottom of the paly, and placed it. let it sit outside the tank for 3-4 minutes, then glued around the base again. it formed a neat little capsule around the base of the paly.
didn't work, it's gone. but, you'll never believe what i found floating around a couple days later!
another polyp of the same paly!!! different polyp. i had forgotten about these, and it would seem they all left me
anyway, i've been thinking of a hybrid method of gluing and sewing. i don't really like the idea of sewing it to the rock (don't know why, just don't like it), but i do like the security of it. obviously, gluing doesn't work for all of them.
so, how about just placing a loop of thread through the stem (just piercing it and making a loop), and then gluing? this would give the glue something to grab hold of, separate from the slimy stem?
