Ugh Ick Help Please

I know it sucks but going fallow for 76 days and QT your fish is the only way to remove the ich for good. Having a tang in a 50 gallon is just bound to cause some trouble in tbe near future. Tangs and ich just dont go well together.

Im really confused if its either. It only seems to be on the purple section of the coral beauty and only under blueish lights. I cant see a single thing on it when any whites are on. The tang looks like its a couple white dots like a grain of salt on its head. I did just dose chemiclean last weekend for a cyano problem. Followed the directions, let my skimmer overflow back into the stump which did put a lot of micro bubbles in the tank. Did the water change Wednesday.

Tang has at least ich it sounds like. I don’t dose chemicals other than alk and cal so I don’t know the effects of those cures. I prefer the slower natural approach. Like I posted before, your options have been laid out for you. This is how it always goes in these threads if you search. It doesn’t matter how much new information comes up.... quarantine and medicate, or manage. 2 options. The posted thread has all the information you need.

Thanks, Ill be setting up my QT tank today. Dont know how they will all like the smaller tank but will see. Ill have to order meds off amazon and probably wont see them till Tuesday. Local petsmart doesnt have anything and next closest real fish store is over an hour away.

I would ride it out really in your current tank. I had few appearances of Ick and that is what I did and disappeared on its own. I dont have a uv and have many tangs. One way to go around it is imho to feed a lot, fat healthy fish are less likely to get ick. Key as I see it is to find a way to manage nutrient export so you will not have to calculate feedings and its impact on water quality.

All you can do is wait. Read some posts on QT setup. I don’t QT so I’ll duck out here. Best of luck. I have my fish QTd for me for an extra charge at my trustworthy LFS. But I’m in an area with awesome marine shops. If something does pop up I’m more on team management. Knock on wood I’m good so far. I never buy a fish on line or when I first see it. I wait for a couple weeks and many LFS visits. If someone grabs it,.... wasn’t meant to be... after a few weeks, watching it eat, seeing what tanks it’s been in, and having the shop do a medicated QT..... I’ll take the gamble. I feed heavy, have a low fish bio-load, and run a BIG skimmer. That’s a successful recipe FOR ME. Everyone reefs different. I may set up my own QT down the road, but only when I get a 200+ Aquarium and stock heavy. Until then my method has worked. I’ve lost 2 fish... a jumper in my old system pre lid, and one in acclimation which I no longer believe in. Kill lights, float for 30, drop em in. Best for the fish IMO. I’m also a big believer in biodiversity. Good live rocks etc..... gotta find your system to keep the fish healthy. Good luck!

Ok so I decided to test my 20 gallon since its been sitting dry for 10+ years and it leaks. So Im left with a fluval 13.5, is that a big enough tank for my 5 fish or do I need to find something bigger?

Went and bought a new 20 gallon, water testing it tonight and will get it going tomorrow. Will use 20 gallons from my tank and a little ruble to seed it. Also ordered a copper test kit and copper power

Ok quarantine tank is set up, waiting on my copper to get her Thursday. Looking at my fish today, yellow tang doesnt have any spots left and looks completely normal. The cb now has what Id describe as micro bubbles only on its head. Still plan to move them all and treat just want to make sure Im treating right and this is ick
