In the noreastern that's happening right now. Power has been out for 8 hours, probably another 16 more according to power company. No house heat.

I jury rigged a power inverter to my car battery and currently running one tank heater, return pump, and one power head.

Problem is my temp has dropped to 71.6 and i can't seem to get it to go higher. But at least its stable. (90 gallons) Am I going to be ok for the next 16 hours if it stays at this temp?

Any tips how i can bring the water temp up without enough power for a second heater?

What temp is emergency mode?

Do you by any chance have a gas stove? 2 weekends ago we had a 2 1/2 day outage. We were boiling water on the stove and putting it in glass jars to set in the sumps, so we could run fewer heaters on the generator.

If you do take this route, don’t actually use boiling water. We were just doing about shower temps.

Smart idea. Do you think a mason jar is good?

~72 should be ok for a bit what do you have in your tank? You could cut off the the return pump and put the heater in tank and run with a powerhead, lower volume should get the temp higher and as long as there's enough water movement from the power head you don't really need the sump.

I sure hope so. We were using gallon, and half gallon mason jars. Also, if and only if you can run power to your stove (and assuming you’re house isn’t very big) you can heat up your with the oven. I would set it to 300 or 350 and leave the door cracked after it comes up to temp.
The oven part needs power. It’s a little more complicated than the feed for the burners.

there's, Lps and softies, very little sps, wrasse, shrimp, blennies, snails, firefish, mandarin, clowns

That's a good idea too. If in a pinch ill stop to the sump

Definitely this! Unless you have banished creatures...

I hope you have your tank wrapped in blankets or anything that will help insulate it.

Well 45 minutes of swapping mason jars in and out and I've got the tank up to 72.8

Man, this is going to be a long night haha

You can bake cookies in your gas oven it would help warm up the house a little that us depending where the tank is located

Just make sure there are no too many temp swings, that’s much more stressful than keeping stable even if lower temp.

Old school technique but effective, Saran warpath your tank in a few layers first if you can
