Hey all,
Think im starting to go through my ugly phase which I’m excited for. Any suggestions for some cuc to maybe help with some of this? Im kind of afraid of snails cause I have had them take over a freshwater tank before and I don’t want that issue with this tank too. Do saltwater snails multiple super fast like crazy as well? Tank is a 6ft 210 gallon.
Thanks!

My experience with snails in salt has been nothing like freshwater. I had a 180 gallon freshwater that had an abundance of trumpeter snails. Nice thing about the thousands of them was they stayed in the sand during the day and I didn't have to vacuum my sand for years. I was using pool sand as substrate
Snails are a very valuable part of a cuc in Salt water. I'll let those with more experience chime in about type an quantity as I'm still a rookie. Hermit crabs work also but they love to kill my snails and take their shells so it's balancing act.

+1 my snails were killed by by hermits over time.

My advice….which isn’t worth much….some are much better than others, depending on what your putting in your tank. First rule of cuc club, don’t believe the calculators. You do not need 5000 assorted snails in a pico tank. I’ve fallen for everything at one point or another. Most are useless and die off. Trochus snails, amazeballs! Urchins, fantastic, crabs, meh. Emeralds are ok I guess but unless you have bubble algae my experience is that they don’t consume much. Pound for pound, you can’t go wrong with some trochus and tuxedos.

Okay good to know for sure! I’ll look into those two
