Ugly Stage!

I forgot to tell the person taking care of my fish while I went away for a few days to dose with Microbacter. And now the diatoms are out of control! I can’t wait until they clear and I added lots of Microbacter. This photo doesn’t remotely show how much there actually is.

They will go away on their own after they eat up all the silicates. Pick up a clean up crew(fishcleaners.org is awesome) and they'll eat them pretty quick.

If they persist, then you've got silicates in your RODI water.

Patience is a virtue. My mantis setup is finally nearing the end of its ugly stage, though unfortunately the diatoms are being replaced by green algae's since I can't keep a proper cleaning crew with a smasher.

Thankfully, I have a lot of munnid isopods running around all my systems that help keep things in check in the long term.

I believe it is. It’s not glued but it’s been there for a little while with no issues.
