This is not my firs tank and hopefully won’t be the last, we all human and sometimes things happen that are out of our control, with enthusiasm and knowledge we all can pass the bad days and enjoy the days to come. This is not a look at me thread this is just a message that there is light at the end of the tunnel, don’t be afraid to share your bad days we all have them. The pictures below are my last two weeks facing Cyanobacteria in my nano tank. They tell a story and I’ve made sure I’ve posted them all in my build thread.

Cheers, I was also thinking of starting an ugly tank thread. This is my 5 month old 5 gallon invert tank, which is the ugliest tank I've made in 15 years in the hobby.

I thought it would be cool to use freshwater tank gravel as the substrate, which is the biggest mistake I made. The cave I built for it collapsed in the loose gravel, food sinks through it, I vacuum the hermits when I vacuum.... the orange thing is sun coral that I tried, but the critters never left it alone so its slowly dying. When the cave collapsed I added the skull on the left which grows algae like a chia pet.

Its pretty ugly but one day it will be beautiful.

When my rock cave collapsed 2 weeks ago I took them out. There is only a CBS and a few hermits in there right now.

I've got a container of rocks curing, but I'm just trying to figure out what I want to do with this tank, I haven't found the inspiration yet.

It’s just a phase, things will get better

I love the theme of this post. Reefing is not always rainbows and sunshine.
I dnt know why we try so hard in keeping the bad phases out of sight, we not a social media we’re only the good side is shared, the ups and downs are telling a story imo

Ahh, that takes me back, way back in the day when I first got started in the hobby, and had a real mean dottyback I didn't know what to do with. This was the end result:

Ignore him. He likes to be sarcastic. He does it to other posts as well.
Thank you, I’ve noticed that to that’s why some clarification could be of use

He’s probably bitter. He’s caused trouble in the past with staff and had some privileges revoked.

Sound like a intellectual discussion would be off the table then :p
