Well out today blowing a gale but very warm no sun great . Took my daughter with me she is mad for this rock pooling and she has eyes like a hawk lol . A lot of anemones seen caught a couple of gunnels they are a fish but look a bit like eels . Had a crab grab my finger size of my hand s… my self but I could of had a bucket full of crabs but they are all crazy . Rapid growth from Tyson fury he is off his head would fight with his shadow crazy crab . Also got a couple of medium sized hermit crabs. I took three of my snake lock Anemones back because too many so now there is one big one looks ready to split in my tank . That’s about it for today .

I love finding butterfish/Rock Gunnels in the Rockpools, such a shame they get to 1’ long as that would look so nice in your tank.

Yep grow too big nice orange colour on them . I’ve never seen them before but nice to see them . I pulled some weed across a rock pool and the crab nailed me t was wanting to have me lol

I don’t like most of the warm water anemones but beadlets and our native anemones are always stunning no matter what!

I think they grow to 50mm fully grown. They ball up and as soon as they get a hint of food in the water bang there open. They are stunning little anemones considering are uk sea lol. Was going to do a big jar one and see how I get on

Forgot to say got a stone with some barnacles just seen there little hands flicking out feeding lol . I take it I will have to supplement them with plankton I have some salfert corals food liquid says for corals and filter feeders might give that a try every second day . Also two little clams lol what’s your thoughts?

My first thought it pics of the clams!
My second thought is do the same as you do with the barnacles, they’ll love it

Springtails (Anurida maritime) (Argyll Caravan Park, Argyll)

These bright blue arthropods were found in a large circular clump floating in a rock pool. They breath air and are covered in tiny hairs which traps bubbles of air which is what keeps them afloat - as you can see from the photo on the right, taken by my husband using a macro lense and a steady hand! Apparently, they are almost unsinkable! They were wriggling away frantically, but whenever a gust of wind separated them, they would immediately come back together again like floating magnets. They can also occur in much larger groups consisting of hundreds of individual springtails.

Update on one of my jars . They are so easy low hassle and everything in it happy and doing well . Equipment I made my self a tiny bubble filter and hid it at the side seems to do the job . Just thought I’d let you guys have a look the easiest set up yet lol

Hi everyone
I have set a native cold water nano tank from the uk coast line I just thought the fish shop is right at my door why not use it . I have been jumping rock pools and finding grate creatures all over the place when moving stones in theses pool . The tank I’ve used is a 34L fluval flex all in one so a small amount of water. Everything seems to be running good at the moment I could do with a small chiller to keep the temperature down and stable but I had my hands in some rock pools today and they were quite warm surprisingly. Cold water marine is all new to me at the moment to the basic method of keeping marine tank going are the same .
So tank content
Snails x 9
Hermit crabs x2
Anemone x1
Shrimps tiny x4
Blenny x 1
Sea lettuce x1
Kelp X1
And more but look nice but don’t know the names yet lol
So here is a look so far still got a long way to go . The only thing really good is everything inside the tank has cost me nothing. So more jobs to do tidying it up a bit and learning All comments welcome we can learn from each other . This thread will be updated as things hopefully progress

Love this!I grew up on the north Norfolk coast & loved paddling around as a kid finding the weird native critters(both sea & land dwelling types-it was Norfolk in the early1990s!)
It's been on my list to do a native cold water marine tank for a few years.
