ULNS and alk?

I want to say it has to do with reclamation of alk used during the carbon dosing progress after the bacterial mass is established?

I think Randy has finer points on this topic.

I started running a ulns using nopox and I'm finding that my need for alk dosing is decreasing.why is that?

You find the dosed alk needed to maintain the same alkalinity has declined?

When nitrate is being reduced (not necessarily low, but declining at any value) due to biological processes, alkalinity is produced. So there may be a temporary decline in the need for alk dosed for that reason.

It is also possible that coral growth has slowed if nutrients are lower.

Hello every body,

I started in october 2016 a new tank
My target is to do ulns tank full with 70% of sps and 30% lps.
I m french guy, in france nobody no ulns tank, they use old school method witk high alk
Witch kind of parameter are mandatory for ulns? Rules and advice are welcome
Currently my parameter are
No3 2ppm
Po4 0.00
Ca 410
Dkh 7.7
Mg 1290
Using biopellet reactor

You may find that corals will do better with some nutrients, regardless of the alkalinity.

For very low nitrate and phosphate, people usually target 7-8.5 dKH.
