These cornered my fire shrimp and proceeded to eat him alive. They hitched on the live rock which came with my tank, they were probably collected on the florida coast.

Whelks or Nassarius snails are scavengers. Aquarists tend to think scavengers are predators when they see them eating something dying or dead. They are great detrivores however, enjoy them...

First pic looks like a king snail. They get big, ask my fiance she has two. The good thing about them is her sand is 7 months old, about 6" deep and looks like it just came out of the bag.

Are you sure they werent eating the Molt from your fire shrimp? I dont see how they could corner a live Fire Shrimp in your tank??

I had just put him in the new tank and he went into a hole at the bottom of the tank to chill, the snail was right there, I saw them face off and laughed cause it looked like a shootout. Turned away for 30 seconds, then two of em were on him and he was struggling but could not get free :(, by the time I rescued him it was too late.

Nah just got the tank a few days before, lets say they are no longer in my tank
