I recently ordered a new sump and will be redoing my plumbing and I was curious if many on here have used something like this:

Amazon.com: TEKTUBE 1.5" Dia. X 25' - Black Schedule 40 Ultra Flexible PVC Pipe- Made in The USA: Garden & Outdoor

This one in particular is made with non toxic materials and is NSF certified. I have read only a few posts of people using these but was curious if there are more using them now and if I would be good to use this. Also curious is these work just fine with Schd80 fittings.

Thanks!

I've see people use that, and spa flex tubing from the hardware store.

If you are super into making things look awesome, you can fill pvc pipe with sand, then heat the pipe up and bend it to the angles you need. It looks pretty awesome when done right. I'll try to find the video where I saw it.

Yeah I have seen that video but the amount of work involved to do that is a bit much and I dont have that kind of space to do that so was hoping this would do the trick since tank is already in place I have little space to work with and hoping to use this to make life easier on the re-plumb.

yea it will work for you then.

What type of tank and space are you dealing with?

75g put its already in place and fully stocked I just needed to get a new sump so have to redo piping and since there is only about 5in of space behind tank figured this was easiest way.

how does the plumbing come down to the sump now?

You might just need to make a couple cuts where it enters the stand and then make the tubing go to the inlet on the sump

I hard plumbed it, I know I can redo it hard plumbed and already ordered all the parts but than just got curious about the flex plumbing, I might do just my drains with flex and returns keep it hard plumbed.

I have used the tektube stuff .... as well as a few other brands of flex PVC. It solvent welds into regular PVC fittings (both 40 and 80) just fine. You can even use DWV fittings on the drains, though not on the return.

My understanding is that is glues on same way regular PVC does right prime it than weld it and thats it? Does it take any longer than ~2hrs for it to dry it?

It solvent welds almost the same. You may have to hold the pipe in the fitting for 30 seconds or so .... and just push it in, don't twist like hard PVC. The joint will be fine after 15 minutes. The only exception is if you are going to weld it into ABS, then you really do want to use a transition cement.

I have not personally used the hydromaxx pipe, but it is shown with the gorilla glue (which is the best one to use IME) primer and solvent so is almost certainly fine.

Thank you much for all the information.

Aesthetics leave a bit to be desired, but ....
