Ultra silent skimmer - Reefer170

Hi R2R,

My friend is looking for a ultra silent skimmer, for his reefer 170.
He has extreme hearing like a bat, so it really needs to be silent.

We've been looking at the ReefOctopus Classic-110SSS, if anyone have it, please tell about your experience, with sound and so on.

All suggestions welcome, no budget, with the demands he has

Bubble king makes the quietest skimmer I've ever had and I've had a LOT of skimmers. The red dragon pump is literally the quietest pump on my tank. The sound of the bubbles inside the skimmer are louder than the pump is.

I know this is an old thread, but I picked up E-Shopps new S-300 Premiere series skimmer. Yes I know..E-Shopps YUCK! Not this skimmer. Not only is my gyre louder, but it's already producing dark skimmate. I highly recommend it.

I'll second this. I am running the Nyos 120 and it has never made any noise.

I have the sc 1455 and its silent. i cant hear a thing out of it, only when the collection cup is open. and it has to be one of the easiest skimmers to setup and dial in. i replaced a vertex 200i that was a pain.. do yourself a favor and dont buy a vertex overpriced and way to difficult to dial in and imo not worth it.

Bubble Kings are silent, theres no other skimmer that is quieter since BK skimmers are virtually silent. If money isn't an object and noise is that important just get a properly sized Bubble King skimmer. Make sure not to buy too large of a skimmer when looking at BK skimmers. They are actually accurately rated and you should under size if anything to make sure not to purchase to large of a skimmer.

I use a Bubble Magus Curve 5 in my 170. It's a great fit, quiet and skims really well. It looks like it uses a non-branded Sicce pump that is very quiet and reliable.
