Ultrareef Akula skimmer anyone ?

Hi,

Does anyone use Ultrareef Akula skimmers ? Italian made skimmers with Sicce psk pumps and superb construction with titanium screws .

Quite famous in Europe among Triton users. I am thinking of getting one in place of a Bubble King for its almost half the price of a bubbleking but wanna know the reviews ..

I have been running the UKS-200 for a few weeks. So far I like it a lot, it has been very easy to adjust, skims really good, very quiet. Cleaning it so far has been so much better than cleaning the Beckett skimmer I was using before. It is rated for 200 gallons I have a 270 gallon display that has a heavy bioload and is SPS, so far I have felt it is under powered at all, if anything I am pretty impressed that it is working as well as it is.

The UKS - 200 is rated for 600-900 lts tank but you are using it on a 270 gallon tank and still you think its performing amazingly !!
That's a pretty amazing review.

I was looking at Bubbleking or ATB but now your review makes me wonder to try out the new stuff..
My tank will be around 90-100 system including sump which is roughly <400 litres ..
Do you think the UKS -160 can handle a heavy sps load ? It has an airdraw of around 600 litres/hr using Sicce PSK 600 pump?

The skimmate looks like nothing short of miracle .. as dark as it can ever get

My tank was reset about 6 months ago, so it is still growing, lots of frags not many colonies yet. here is a video shot with an iphone (so not the best color) a few weeks ago.
