I can't grow chaeto for the life of me, not with the best grow bulbs, not with an arid system. nothing.... has anybody tried using Ulva macroalgea as a nutrient export exclusively in place of chaeto? pros??? cons??? does it go A sexual like Calupra? does it grow fast enough to even be a contender?? can it be grown in mass??? will it spread into the display and be a nuisance??? I do not have any tangs... don't want any either....

It can kind of be a nuisance algae and if it gets in the display it can attach to rock work or even snails. However if you have a tang or other fish that likes it then no problem.

What's your no3 at? Maybe that's why you can't grow chaeto. Try either Potassium Nitrate or Seachem Nitrogen
