Unable to raise Mg

I want to raise Mg from 1280 ppm to 1350 ppm.

Calculated the right dosage to raise it in two weeks using ESV which is around 87 ml a day for a 175 gallon tank. I did 85 ml.

Initial test done using Red Sea Pro Kit. One week in, Mg did not change. Ordered Aquaforest test kit. Second week in, both test kits show somewhere between 1290 ppm and 1295 ppm. I verified the doser is working and monitored the liquid in the container.

During the two weeks, Ca dropped around 10 ppm and Kh maintained around 7.7-8.0 dKH.

Any ideas?

It should eventually come up, do you have your own Mg test kit? I had a similar issue with my new build and it took a while but but I raised my mg from 1150 to 1350 using Brightwell @ 5ml per 25 gallons daily for about 2-3 weeks.

Sorry I see that now.. it would help if I actually read your post Do you know the Mg levels of your salt mix? Sometimes I find it easier to just do frequent large water changes when trying to pull a parameter that is out of wack back in line.

Tropic Marin Pro which has approximately 1350 ppm of Mg. I perform a 10% weekly water change.

I will do about 15% every other day until things start pulling in line and sometimes I also continue dosing the deficient elements at a reduced level.. when I do something like this I’m testing everything daily or multiple times a day especially my Alk
