Undersized skimmer, is it that bad?

Hi everyone, don't be too harsh with the opinions just trying to be hopeful here. I run a 275l (70ish gal) with a nyos 120 Skimmer rated up to 500l. I have the offer to pick up a free 650l or 130g tank and stand. I know all my other gear is over the top and can handle the upgrade . Will running a undersized skimmer be that bad. I don't plan on adding twice the stock I have so won't be changing the bioload too much. What's everyone's thoughts or experience?

You will be perfectly fine with that skimmer. Personally I would rather have an undersized than oversized skimmer on low bioload tank.

 

[Waters]

The size of the skimmer is strictly dependent upon your desired water quality. Some systems run without any skimmer at all. If you are understocked, you don't need a huge skimmer
