I understand that bounce mushrooms are excessively popular (and expensive) these days. From what I can tell, a bounce mushroom is a rhodactis mushroom (some colorful, some not) that gets a series of enlarged bubbles over its surface. Is that the criteria for a bounce mushroom? I see bounce mushrooms sold both in online auctions and by major coral retailers that have no enlarged bubbles, but command a bounce price.
Also, I have a large rhodactis mushroom in my tank that gets enlarged bubbles, but I've been told by several vendors it's not a bounce. Here is a photo of my mushroom. One of the enlarged bubbles can be seen bulging at the top. What specifically qualifies a mushroom as a bounce?
