Unfortunately my current lighting setup isn’t good enough, I don’t think.

My nem was out and looking beautiful for the first month or so, and then it moved and hasn’t bubbles up since. It still comes out, and doesn’t look like it’s dying.. it’s just not bubbling or opening fully.

I think it’s my light, I used one from my old tank which was considerably smaller. I emailed the support team and they concluded the PAR at such depths of my new tank just isn’t enough; and unfortunately the nem has settled down there between a rock.

Is there any way I can get my nem closer to the light while I wait for an upgrade to arrive? PAR at the top levels of the tank are fine enough for the nem, but obviously there’s not just some random rock floating at the top third of my tank so I can’t just place it there.

Any ideas?

Hang a plastic basket, or drill a bunch of holes in something like tupperware, on the rim of the tank near the light and put the nem in it. Won't be pretty but should get the nem the light it needs until you can fix your setup. I assume there is plenty nutrients and other parameters are in check for said nem?

Found a Tupperware box so going to put some holes in this for flow, not sure how in the world I’ll hang it but possibly via my mag float, I’ll put a small piece of rock from the tank in there so it has something natural to latch on to.

What's he on now? I've definitely done the "GET OFF THIS" with nems many times. I'm a big fan of pulling the rock out of the water and suspending above a bucket until it plops. I've also had success with a lil' ice cube on the foot trick.

Quick edit: The suspension method takes TIME, my personal best is waiting 2+ hours for a maxi mini to drop.

If you can run the food it will start to release and you can get your finger und the food and rub it will pop off.

I wouldn't worry about bubbles or no bubbles, nems are weird and they'll do what they like.

I agree. I bought one probably 10 years ago and it hasn’t had bubbles for probably 9.
Bubbles are less the issue than it just staying super small and never really extending its tentacles properly
