My Acans have started to shrink last few days. The only change I have made is installing a Calcium Reactor three weeks ago. The tank is about 850l mixed reef, sps, lps, zoa. Everything but the Acans has been doing exceptionally well since installing the calcium reactor assume since KH/Calcium is perfectly stable. The sps are particularly having a growth explosion, my LPS hammers have grown new heads faster than ever, zoa are looking beautiful but the Acans are shrinking only expanding half what they were?

My tank has been perfectly stable in KH and Calcium for the first time in a year and I am not over doing the CO2 just using enough to keep everything stable. Not changed Acans position or flow, so why would they be unhappy? Can't work out the problem.

KH/Alk 8.3 2.97
Calc 460
Mag 1250
PH 8.12
Phosphate 0 undetectable
Nitrate 0.3
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
SG 1.025
Temp 26F

You have any pictures? Are you feeding? If so, how often?

I feed LPS sinking pellets, Reef roids, frozen krill...

This is them now...

But the polyps were twice that size few weeks ago... although looking at this photo and one before there's a lot more heads now I never noticed?

Three weeks ago.....

Those definitely still look happy in my opinion.

Just in case... happen to have a foxface in your tank? Mine all of the sudden went from super happy to a foxface's snack in a short time. Once I got them into a frag tank they bounced right back in no time.

No foxface but several Tangs (Powder Blue, Mimic, Dejardini) Coral Beauty, Yellowhead Jawfish, pair of Clarkii, Swallowtail Angel, Dragonette, group of Bangaii.

They were small again today, just not looking happy as usual, they always been very large inflated until recently.

He has been so well behaved for last 6 months, I rescued him and he is about 3 inches now a real reclusive fish but even by Coral Beauty standards he is gorgeous, will keep a close eye out... can't rule out developing a taste for Acans. Not noticed him out at night, he normally goes into his cave.

Love that fish be gutted if he has to go....probably move the Acans to my new frag system I am building.

Although be suprised if he can get to the Acans as my Jawfish is rather territorial of that rock...unless he is the culprit some how?!

Jerry dislikes any fish near his burrow... cool character very slightly evil. Lol
