Hi all,

I picked up a foxface last week. He's currently in my QT in copper treatment.
He looks healthy and he's eating everything I throw at him. Frozen, pellets and a never ending supply of nori sheets on a clip.

Even though he looks healthy, I get a feeling that he's miserable in the QT (120L / 32 gallon).
He's always hanging out on the bottom in a corner. Should I be worried that the QT is stressing him out too much?
Whenever I enter the garage, he gets up and prepares for me to give him food. But every time I leave and come back after a few minutes, he's in the corner again.

Any advice?

Can you move the QT to another part of your home that sees more people walk by and more interaction? I'd probably feel miserable too living alone in the garage.

I personally would be very happy in the presence of 2 German sports cars but I guess he can't appreciate it ;)

On a more serious note, no I don't really have a space for an ugly QT in other parts of the house. Well, space yes. But it's just too ugly to have it somewhere we actually spend time. I have thought about buying a nice tank for my home office but the need for bare bottom and no rocks is a deal breaker.

The garage is in-house and is heated/cooled all year round to a steady 21c.

He's probably bored out of his mind. No worries. As long as he's healthy, eating and doesn't show any signs of illness it's all okay imo.

Foxfaces stress out from everything - it's kind of part of their nature. But one thing that would help the chap to feel better is some rock(s) to hide. They are not used to being in the open when they are stressed, so this one is having a double-stress..

It's a QT with active copper (and after that praziquantel) treatment. I read everywhere that rocks and sand are a big no-no as it can absorb and later release the substances that treat the fish. I'll get some more PVC piping and elbows for the guy to hide in as he's to big for the PVC that's already in there.

Try some plastic plants (make sure they are safe for saltwater) that he can hide behind and weave through.

Yeah, just something in the QT tank for him to hide..
