Got my first mushroom, but after 2 days in the tank I watched him (over about 36 hours) RIP himself from the rock he was on. Pic (right in store, left the rock he ripped from). I asked the lfc if I could remove him from the plag and attach to another rock (sure no problem). Used Reef Glue (cyanoacrylate) to secure. Moved the leftover mushroom onto a rock in my breeder box, but he looks like hell now.

in the breeder not "secured" to the rock

Never glue a mushroom after fresh cut or transfer. None of mine are glued. Too much light will bleach them

No Glue:

not sure how you even do that. he was glued to the plug when I bought him. no glue => floats aimlessly around the tank (which he was doing when he finally ripped himself off the rock).

You can not glue a mushroom, they are too slimy and can just move if they want to. He was on that frag plug because he decided to stay on that frag plug and glue had nothing to do with it. Then decided to move once he went through the stress of being bagged and brought to a new tank.

You can put them in a tupperware with rubble in the bottom and cover it with mesh/birdnetting (zip tie it on?) until he attaches. They also sell mushroom boxes just for this purpose.

When they rip themselves... that is normal for moving. They sometimes leave a peice behind when they move which becomes a new mushroom. Normal behavior.

Edit: looks like you already put him in a breeder box with rubble. Mushrooms can look really mad like omg dying mad but are actually fine. They like to look *****. A dying one will basically be goo.
