I have a torch coral that looks unhappy. Its tentacles are swollen looking and short. Parameters are good. I have a thriving torch 6 inches away but this guys hasn't looked very happy since I got him. He is in a low-mod light and low-mod flow area. I don't want to move him anymore but I will if I'm missing something here. Thanks!

How new is it? Anything run into it? All other corals are ok?

good news is, torches do this sometimes regularly and if it’s growing and splitting heads. Sometimes they do this then emit a black string out (pooping) and then go back to normal. Good news is ur other torch (hopefully other corals) are totally open and happy!!! Don’t be worried:)

Thanks for the info! I hope he is splitting. The swollen tentacles made me wonder if I had it in a bad spot. Nothing has picked on it that I have seen. I have had it for about 2 months and moved it twice I think. I will leave it alone for now. Leaving corals alone seems to be a good reef keeping strategy. Thanks for the help!

Less is more, that’s my favorite thing to say in the hobby but hopefully it’s doing better today :)
