Morning all! Found some type of algea growing on only this one spot on my tank nesr the top. I recently went from a cheap off brand light to a Kessil 360NE and have ben battling the common algea issues, but not familiar with what this may be

Can you get us a good pic under white light ?

Yeah im sorry. Took those light night.

Not easy to take good photos underwater. Whats the trick? Took a few through the glass and one top down. None look great.

Ok. Thinking bryopsis. Can you pinch between your fingers and pull it off? Does it feel slimy? Does it look like little ferns?

Oh wow! Those look pretty cool! (Googled images). Do they have 'structure' kinda like a fern? I wasnt able to 'pluck' it off the rock, it simply melted in my hands. The little bit i pulled out was obviously very green outside of the tank, but wasnt enough left to determine if its slimey.

Tanks been up 8 months. 50gal (5ft tall) with 25gal sump/refugium. Have a 100w grow light on the fuge for 11hrs/night. Not much growth in the fuge, assuming this kessil is just awesome and overpowering the cheato?

This is the only spot ive seen this type of algea.

I see Aiptasia, but no algae.

Green hair algae. Pick it off and put a turbo snail on the spot.
