Union size?

Hi,
I have been doing some research for my sump plumbing ,
my overflow outlets take 1" pipe, ive seen people using 1" pipe with 1/1/4' unions and valves joined with couplers.
Is there an advantage to this?
Also could i run just 1/1/4' pipe and unions and just couple out from the 2 overflows or is this not correct?

Nothing wrong with your plan, just try to always run larger plumbing for your drains than you use for your returns.

If my outlets are 1" would I be better off running 1" pipe with 1/1/4" unions or just add a coupler and run all 1/1/4" pipe thru out ?
And yes my return will be 3/4"

1 inch should be fine but you can never go wrong going bigger either, your call.
