Will half of a "Lasco" brand union attach to the opposing half of another brand union of the same size?

If they are both US or both European made they probably will mate. If 1 is US and the other European (metric) they won't.

Yeah - some unions will match threading and some won't. Not all of them fit together, but not all of them are incompatible. It depends on the size of the screw ring and o-ring. For them to be compatible, BOTH have to match - not just the screw ring. They may screw together, but won't seal.

I agree with ReeferBob - why risk it? Unions are SO cheap - just buy a new one.

Not usually. Brands like Lasco and Spears have their own threads and dimensions. I always use thread x thread unions rather than socket/glue type so it is easy to change out both halves if needed when replumbing or changing equipment.
