Any suggestions for a safe lubricant to use with uniseals? I've seen people using liquid dishwashing soap, but I'd prefer that not be in my mixing tank if it can be avoided.

Thanks,

DC

Perfect! 4 bucks for peace of mind is completely worth it. Thanks!

I use vasaline , as long as it is pure petroleum jelly. Not too much, just enough.

I had noise with my sicce syncra, put a little on the impeller and worked out fine

Not meant to be negative brother, but Vaseline is a petroleum product and not a good idea to use on any fish tanks.

My understanding is that Petroleum jelly is also not good for most of the rubber or acrylics in the seals. A silicone based grease is preferred and I would use a food grade one such as you use in a coffee maker.

Just getting the uniseal wet has always worked pretty well in my experience. You could otherwise try something natural like olive oil. Or if you have kids maybe you've also got some non-petroleum ointment? Just wipe off any excess once the uniseal is installed. They can certainly be difficult to push the pipes through and there is always fear about breaking whatever the seal is bypassing.

I tried with plain water and while it's probably doable, it will be a struggle ;Inpain. I'd like to get at least a couple of feet of pipe down into the drum to help facilitate the mixing process.

@Brad Miller has this one spot on. I just wanted to stress no petroleum or vegetable oils with any and all rubber. The oil plasticizes the rubber causing it to swell. Your options are silicone based greases, such as silicone plumbers grease. I actually have been using Leslie's Pool and Spa Lube for years. For seven bucks, it's a lifetime supply. One more note for seals...a very light coat will do it..

Never negative sir. I learned something new. That’s why I am here.

Always appreciated and thankful
