Hello,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on a universal Hanna checker like device. a small testing chamber which checks the color of a test and outputs an exact value. the checker then can have a simple screen with a way to select the brand of test and parameter you are checking. this seems like a fairly simple device and I wonder why it does not yet exist. I would think such a thing would cost around $200.00 and allow for a wide range of tests from popular brands. the unit would also contain a stir bar allowing for titration tests and have quick swappable 5ml vials. by using a single sensor for multiple tests the end product can be more versatile and cost effective.

I believe I can make such a thing as I have already made a similar sensor unit and code for another project.
is this something people would be interested in?

thank you,

I like the idea but, at $200, I'd just buy the Hanna "Marine Master" ($295 without reagents) that already does all that (allegedly) plus logging in a nice, clean-looking format.

...or maybe I missed a key point somewhere

the form factor would be similar as the photo is only a prototype from a different project. however, I see your point. this tester would have the benefit of being able to use reagents from different brands allowing more options. it also would be programmed for more parameters. It would not be hard to have an option to plug the device into a computer to log directly to excel. another difference is the included stir stick allowing for titration tests (the one where you drip titrant until the sample changes color).

I see -- could be of interest to advanced, non-lazy reefers (((which I am not either of those)))
