Hello, I bought some used equipment at a yard sale and don’t know anything about this skimmer. Does anyone know the brand or what parts it’s missing besides the pump and lid?

I am not sure why that tube goes from one side of the skimmer body to the other, is it drilled on the other side? Can you take better pictures?

the tube is sealed against the side of the inner body but underneath the tube is a big oval opening. I tried to get it to foam today and couldn’t. I’ll take some photos

Here are some photos

Ok looks closely at this photo linked, notice the piping does not go all the way across, there is suppose to be an elbow.
I do see, though that model is a bit different. I do feel the current set up serves the similar purpose as it has a big opening along the bottom of the tube. (See images it’s kind of hard to see) I’ve determined the pump isn't operating properly. Barely spits out water and the air tube isn’t pulling a vacuum at all. I made sure it’s not blocked too. Thank you for helping!

I think I read somewhere. The length of the vertical tube is a way to tune the skimmer. I don’t know about that. Maybe you do?

That skimmer has been modified I would remove that horizontal piece and put it in an elbow, I would check MarineDepot to see if they have the skimmer pump available, it should be the 5000 pump, it should have a handle on it.

The vertical tube slides up and down allowing you to raise and lower the water in the skimmer. if it does not work it has been changed.

I am sorry but I would not cut that horizontal pipe, I would just look for a used Euro/ Reef Dynamics INS 180 or CS 180 model they usually sell for cheap.

Yea, I might just be upgrading. Do you have any recommendations/ skimmers youve seen success with? I have a100g

If the Simplicity skimmers are still on sale I would check out the DC 240 model. Check out Aquarium Specialty they had a sale on them.

ISsthe 100 gallon the DT only? If you can find a Bubble Magnus Curve 7 + with the sicce pump on sale used I would get one of those
