It might be some green Gracilaria or Cladophora, which would both serve as a home for pods and absorb excess nutrients (though Cladophora is said to be difficult to completely remove from rockwork). I would keep it. I have some and it has been growing very slowly in my planted marine aquarium.

Actually, looking at more pictures, I believe it might also be the pest algae, Cladophoropsis, though I am not sure. Maybe @Tigahboy could help.

Personally, it looks too smooth and thin to be Codium (which is thicker/globular and is velvety), but I agree that this is an awesome macroalgae.

Never said it was codium- I said similar in texture and being a macro algae. Macro algae as I indicated will help in removal of nitrate
