One of my MP's died and I pulled the wetside out and found this little beast on the cage of the powerhead. He's about a 1/4 inches and does move about, even out of water. I think I see two antennae on the front of this guy. What is it?

Sorry, only have a phone camera. Here's another but not sure if it's much better. You can make out the antennae of the right.

And here's the odd thing (for me anyway)....this is the first one I've seen, and I haven't added anything to my tank in years. Now maybe I hit upon this guy because lights were out when I noticed the lights weren't lit on the MP controller....and that's when I pulled the wetside. Otherwise, I'd imaging when lights are on they are buried in the sand. Thanks for the ID...appreciated.

Don't get old.....as I'm cleaning the MP and thinking about this guy, I finally remember a stripped guy I had a number of years ago.....here's a pic for 2013 that was ID'ed as either a peppermint or olive!

So I guess I've had them for quite some time.

With how tiny they are you must have some adults making babies! Maybe take a peek at night with a flashlight and see if any pop out for a stroll around the tank?

Out of curiosity, does anyone ever go in their tank at night and shine a light? I’ve found some strange things that immediately went into hiding and I still haven’t ever seen them since. Once I saw a spider looking thing. No idea. It went into hiding so fast. Could’ve been a crab or other crustacean but no idea. It’s a big world inside such a small tank.

Every night.

But I use a red tinted flashlight. Scares them less.

Tanks at night is the most exciting to watch imo

I’ve been meaning to get a red light for this very reason. One of those things I’ve been meaning to get around to. Shining a flashlight in and shocking your tank isn’t the best approach.
