Set up a new tank recently and was looking at the small amount of live rock I added to seed the tank. I came across this little red guy I believe is some kind of coral. Wasn't sure if anyone would be able to identify it so I know what I might be dealing with. Kinda tough to see but its redish and has stem like branches that are see through. It also tends to close up often when my kid runs by the tank.

Could you take pictures under white light (ex. With a flashlight). It could be a barnacle or a fan worm, which are not corals and are both harmless filter-feeders.

Looks to be a feather duster

Yea looked up feather duster on Google images looked very similar I'm presuming that is what it is. Appreciate it!

The coloration seems consistent with orange fan/tube/feather duster worms, but the "crown" doesn't seem to form a complete circle so it might be damaged or indicate the organism is a barnacle. In any case, it is not something to worry about.
