Unknown shrimp - even LFS manager doesn’t know

Kinda looks like a peppermint shrimp. Id say yes, as long as it doesn't end up as a fish snack!
Peppermint shrimp...
I'm not a shrimp guy, but that doesn't look like your everday peppermint, with that white stripe, it reminds me of a camel shrimp, but usually those have much more ornate patterns on them, then again, this could be not developed yet
?
I'm sure someone on here who loves shrimp can give you a better ID.
Yea, there a while bunch of shrimp labeled under peppermints so most likely just one of them. One would have to go through every shrimp labeled as a peppermint to decide.
This is true, however the pattern of the back does not match peppermint shrimps common in the trade it appears (Lysmata sp.)?

Peppermint shrimp.
Looked like a muted/dull skunk, but either way, I’d gamble.

What exactly is the going rate for a shrimp from a LFS if the shop-keep doesn’t know what it is?

Update: I acclimated and put it in last night and this morning found it attached to one of my power heads. Don’t know if it was my fault or if it got stuck but I’m glad it was $8 instead or $25 or $40 which is what they wanted for the cleaner and blood red, respectively.

The body shape is closer to a camel, with the pinched back. Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like it has the beak, too. BUT, the “whiskers” look too long and pronounced, and the legs are pretty skinny. My guess is a hybrid, or a species that isn’t targeted for the trade was accidentally caught. Pretty little guy though!

Agree the orientation of the eyes is what made me dismiss peppermint and skunk cleaner. Eyes look like a camels. You could be right about it being a juvi or a hybrid

OP, sorry to hear it didn't make it.

I know. It would have been cool to have an unknown in my tank at least until I got coral since I don’t know if it’s reef safe.
