Whatever this is, it’s starting to spread, can someone point me into the right direction on it.

i tried it in google lens, and didn't get anything, which is super weird. the only thing close I got was coral. just watch it, and I'm sure someone e more qualified will come help u

Agreed it looks like a sponge. Normally, they're harmless, but it seems to be aggravating your coral there, so I'd agree with scraping it off.

So I have held off touching it in fear of spreading it, will it spread or just die if it is a sponge and I scrape it off. Why can’t nature have name tags on everything lol

No, it won’t spread.

It depends on the sponge, but some of them would absorb silica in the tank, yes. That said, silica usually isn't a major problem in our tanks, and - in this case - a sponge actively overtaking corals could be.
