Hello, first post here. Unsure of a little worm/parasite possibly, on the forehead of my mama tomato clown. Seen a week ago and overnight it disappeared but has re appeared today. ?

20 gallon bio cube, normal/good parameters , established for apprx 3years. Before that I rescued the bonded pair from a terrible tank. Unsure of exact age but guess of 7 as they said 4 prior to me. Never any problems in my care.

food- clam/brine/Mysis /pellet
Water changes weekly
Few corals live rock/sand hitchhikers here and there Only nuisance is bubble algae

Hi! Welcome to Reef2reef!

Here is what I think that is: an Idiopathic mucus plug. All that means is that for no real reason, the fish develops a thicker plug of mucus coming from one of its pores, and it extends out into the water until it breaks off and floats away. It returns if it happens again.

I don't know of any worm that extends from a fish's head like that.

Thanks for the response! The area of concern is clear today. Greg.
