I have been having problems lately (now that it's winter) with shipping sw fish, and my chromis was lonely. So I went to the lfs who only has fw fish, and got some mollies. I acclimated them over... now the mollies actually school with the chromis. It's so cute watching them all together. The chromis used to hide all the time and now he swims everywhere with the mollies.

Makes me wonder... does anyone else have odd tankmates that get along together? I've included a picture of them as well.

That's so awesome! How long have the mollies been in the tank? How long did it take to acclimate them?

Today is their third day together. I acclimated them over about 5 hours. They were in fresh water. I read that when you do it, you can loose about 25% of your stock. I bought 5 and 3 made it through. So now I have 2 white sailfin mollies and a dalmatian mollie that are now saltwater fish.

The first night the chromis wasn't too sure about them. Mollies are supposed to be peaceful but one just started following the chromis around from the moment he got in the tank. Never nipped him, just follows him and now they all school together.

I’ve heard they can be great for algae control!

Regarding your question - I got a trio of leopard wrasses (1 male, 2 female) and lost one of the females. The surviving female and my Tomini Tang are always swimming together. It’s so neat and I love it bc my Tomoni tang was previously very skittish.
