I have had an Oc. Clown for about a year and then decided to pair her up with another clown so I went to the store and picked up a smaller clown bc I read that if you want to pair up with an existing clownfish, the new one must be smaller than the older one so that’s what I did. I got a smaller clownfish. I put the new one in the tank together and there was a little fighting for about a week but it wasn’t anything major. My older clownfish (Nigel) wouldn’t let the new clown into her territory which seemed about normal and has been charging at the smaller one. I assumed this is normal and that my bigger clown was establishing dominance. They have been in opposite sides of the tank for as long as they’ve been in there together (for about 2 weeks). Now things have seemed to change a little bit. The aggression between the two has ramped up drastically. My older and bigger clown is doing the submissive twitch dance to the new, smaller clownfish. I thought that this should be the other way around and that the new clownfish should be doing the submissive twitch to the bigger clownfish. Now my new, smaller clownfish is fighting back at the older one. Is this normal?? Thank to anyone that can help me out!

Can’t remember what the guy at the LFS said but I know it is a Ocellaris hybrid of some kind. Looks really similar to regular ocellaris. Looks exactly the same as an ocellaris, just a lighter orange. The guy at LFS said the pairing would work. Here is a picture.
