Ok, I have a 150 gallon tank not set up. I got everything I need to start it up with except the lights. I’m starting out with coral. How long do I wait before I introduce my coral and how many is recommended to start with?...

Set up the tank. Get everything running. Measure the top 5 things in the water for 2 weeks. Get used to doing a water change. Figure out how to clean the sand and glass. Get a light. Once everything is settled, spend what you can afford on some corals and see how it goes. If they look good after a few weeks then get more.

Even soft corals can be unhappy in a new setup.

I cycle and start adding the fish. Fish enhance the nitrogen cycle and whose waste, feed corals.

I don’t add softies or LPS to after the uglies are gone.
They just get the uglies as well.

I begin adding SPS (except Acros) when I start to see coralline.
If water chemistry supports coralline, it’s time for SPS.

I add the acros after my water chemistry is rock solid and demonstrates little flux on a long term basis, so, last.

I only add a few at a time, it took me a year to get everyone in.
