so I’m sure this might be an unusual request but I’m looking for possible advice/feedback on where to place my chalices. My tank will have a few SPS but mostly softies/LPS. Here are pictures of my tank and current aquas cape. I have 3 ( hollywood, rainbow and another unknown) if these are too many I am willing to trade one away. I do like chalices when they turn into a overhang/shelf like structure

Many chalices can grow quite quickly, and can then overrun other corals or real estate in your tank. My suggestion is to isolate them on their own "island", or place them on the substrate and let them do their thing. Most don't require high light or flow, but will also tolerate those types of conditions.

Yea that’s why I was kind of hoping on advice where to place them in my tank. I think I’m going to sell one of them and just put one on each end. I don’t have any way to make an island with my current scape

The Hollywood stunner will grow quickly and be near impossible to get rid of, isolate it. The other two will most likely grow slowly and not be an issue as far as taking over, but they will probably like being lower in the tank.

Nonsense. Don't sell one. And you don't need an island for them. You'll be fine. I have nine in my 40 gallon. They're all in the middle getting decent flow and medium light. I think you can place them just about anywhere you want in your tank, but I'd start down low or in the corners.

If you can keep them on the frag plug, and just stick it in a hole in your rocks i think that would be best. With my chalices, they encrust the frag plug but seem to plate out from there and not stick to the rock, so I can pull the whole thing out if needed. They aren't all like this though. The hollywood stunner is the only one I'd be cautious with. It is aggressive and grows faster than most. Make sure you're able to pull it out and cut it back if needed.
