I have some unwanted algae in a few spots in my tank(the red hairy stuff). I dont really have any clean up crew to speak of and I am wondering if something would help keep this under control. I run Bio pellets and have slowed the flow down to them and upped my feeding to even detect nitrate and phosphates. The highest phosphate I have had is .03ppm (hanna) usually 0 and nitrates I am guessing 2ppm I only have an API checker and its no where near a orange hue. I am thinking of getting a clean up crew. It seems to be popping up more and more. Any advice would help.

Easy to fix, has nine day dieoff phase after treatment. We have documented it in the algae challenge thread below. Some people farm that purposefully in planted macro tanks

In some reef tanks it can take over rocks while clean up crews won't touch it, at least the removal option is well documented if you need to remove it

Yes that one and any other type of algae, we have ways of zapping them if needed

In balance though they look fine and add some diversity in color and shape to the tank, at least it's good to know some extra control cheats if needed
