unwanted crab

I have been trying to get this crab out of DT for months
have tried all known methods like glass jar,baited line,even a tall glass vase but this crab is smart and will not go into a tall glass jar
actually it is able to push over the jar even when the jar in wedged into rocks it seems to know all the angles
so is there any foolproof way to remove this crab
I have even tried the knotted fishing line trick ...bait in the middle of a fishing line nest hoping that the crab gets tangled up and I can then remove it ...but no still manages to escape
here is a pic of it along side some Blood Cockles that were about 1" so this crab is quite large and has demolished several blue legged hermits
has anyone a working method for getting this out of the DT apart from stripping everything out

Is the rock around him accessible? When he retreats, he's more than likely in a large hole in the rock he's closest to, pull it and fish him out. I just pulled 2 from my recent tank move. Had to flush the biggest and baddest out of the rock with the water hose!

That's a bad crab to have. It might take drastic measures to get it out; like removing the rock it's in. If it scurries off maybe another rock. Or partition off the tank you know it's not in and gradually make that area bigger until you have it semi cornered and take out the remaining rock/rocks and net it.

make a trap, crab traps are easier than fish traps....
put some crate or some type of floor on bottom, with string to pull it up. Put some meat attached. It surely will come to eat it and pull it right up...
