What do you do with a fish that you no longer want? Trade them in at LFS, sell on Craigslist, etc? I got a porcupine puffer 10 days ago and I’m not happy with his personality. He hides any time the light is on, he eats the small fish in my tank and will not touch the food that I offer to him. I’ve had porcupine puffers in the past who were very social and would swim up to the glass any time I was nearby. I would like to get another one but don’t want to add one without getting rid of this one first since I’m about at capacity. Any help would be appreciated!

It’s not happened to me yet, but I would take it back to the LFS, certainly mine will always take fish back and give a shop credit. They just re sell them.

It’s the same if a fish gets to big for your tank

On the rare occasion that my research fails me, and I end up with a fish that I can't provide a good home for... I trade him back to my LFS for store credit.

Last time that happened was with an orange spotted rabbitfish. Model citizen for over a year, suddenly developed a taste for hammer corals.

My lfs is about 1.5 hours away so I look around at local reef clubs to see if there's anyone more local who would want it. But lfs are really good about taking fish back in my experience.
