Not that you asked for advice, but I would say leave those wavemakers running all day. Good circulation and water movement is a big part of a healthy tank. A wavemaker is not really a concern for healthy fish. My guess is bad health is what caused the fish to get stuck in the wavemaker rather than the other way around.

My wave maker is photo so it cuts to 30 percent one day and off the next as soon as the lights go out. But for a 125 gal. Tank it pushes 3400 gal. Per hour .and if set to low will splash water over the ends of my tank. Many people have lost fish to this pump . I would like to think he was sick but I think he got to close.

Perhaps looking into getting a fish guard might help. What kind of pump are you using?

Nero wavemaker? If so, they make a guard for them now.

Thank goodness their newer batches of Nero 5 and their Nero 3 comes with the fish guard. I remember watching Youtube videos back in 2019 complaining about their nems and fish getting shredded by the Nero 5.

If a fish gets caught to the overflow or a wave maker, 9 out of 10 times the fish wasn’t healthy or doing too good in the first place. But yes keep that wave maker on all day

If you have any perching fish turning the wave maker off is bad because they might go inside it and chill.. when the pump comes back on rip

He likes staying in my bottom overflow screen in the morn he sit on top of the highest rock in the tank and starts cleaning all the fish in my tank one at a time till they are all up. Kind of cool
