I posted about most all my fish dying after I added 2 new fish with out properly quarantining, I observed them a couple weeks and didn’t add preventative medicine because that’s what the guy at my lfs told me to do.
I’m still not sure what causes all but 2 fish to die but it seems to make sense that it was something to do with the two new fish since it began 2-3 days after I added them, every day 1-2 fish would be dead.
It’s been a couple days since a fish died and by then I’d pulled out all but 2 that I couldn’t catch and I’d already tore up my aquascape pretty well trying.
Both fish left look and act healthy and only a few ever actually showed any signs of being sick.
My concern is that I still don’t know what caused the deaths, my corals and inverts are all well and actually thriving. I have a watchman goby that seems unaffected and a 6 line wrasse I’m still trying to catch.
my other concern is that I bought the tank used and although I cleaned it well I didn’t use bleach or anything to completely kill off any possible issues before setting it up and cycling it.
I’m thinking if there were issues with the tank itself that the corals and inverts would also be affected but it’s only been fish.
I’m leery about every adding fish again, and at times tempted to break it down and start over except I have corals that are really doing well and know I’ll end up losing 1/2 my cleanup crew if I try to drain the tank and start over.
I don’t know
I guess I’m just wanting advice going forward and curious how many think it was related to adding the two fish that caused 12 fish to die over the past week or so ?
