Hey everyone i am on the 5th week of the cycle and got my water tested everything seems to be cycling. But I have one question on the lights. Should I use the lights as I would normally or cycle the tank with the lights off as I am using dry Rock. Also I did cycle the tank for the first 2 to 3 weeks with no light but a buddy lended me a light to use in the mean time before i get my new light

Most of the veterans on here seem to recommend cycling with the lights off to reduce algae growth. I'd consider just leaving the tank unlit until you have something in there that you want to see... why pay for the power to light a tank without any critters to watch?

Live rock I suggest cycling with the lights on......there is no benefit to using lights with dry rock and no livestock.
