$uper expensive fish on divers den

holy shmoley! that's one pricey fish! i think that's the most expensive fish they've had on their site ever?

There was recently a breakthrough in breeding these little guys. They also did an EXTREMELY limited edition hybrid that they plan to never release again. I am surprised the price is not higher. :xd:

I personally have a soft spot for centropyge argi.

Haha, no, they've had $6,000 fish before, some of their larger angles were $4,000, clarion angles were like $3,000 on there for a lil bit.

Why would they not make more? they are realy cool looking fish

Have you ever studied economics? If they sell everyone that they have produced, the value of the fish will go down since there is more. For all we know there are 50 more of those fish (not likly, but possible) from the same breeder that are waiting to be shipped to DFS. In turn DFS will not sell all at once because there would no longer be as big of a demand, and the next batch they receive, the price will be lower. So they will sell what they have for a high price because the demand is there, and next batch they get, prices may still be the same depending on the numbers avaiable.

They have sold a gem tang before for a lot more than that...

woah, sorry guys. i guess i don't check out live aquaria enuff. personally i can't spend that kind of money on 1 fish, but if i did have that kind of money.............

I meant why not keep making them instead of discontinuing them

No idea why...

The Resplendent Cherubfish will be available for a limited time from fine retailers that sell quality captive-bred fish. We will not be selling directly to hobbyists at this time. We have no plans to culture this fish again in the future.

If anyone else CAN breed Pygmy cherub angels, then by all means they should "veto" these guys and bread the hybrid again. It is not like RCT owns the rights to a fish

If you spent hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars on breeding a fish would you ask $30 for the offspring that aren't found in nature?

I understand it's a lot of money for most people, but please don't get offended when you see a price tag that high. If you read the proceeds are going towards RCT and their breeding programs. The people who buy these fish are supporting future captive raised strains and making it possible for everyone else to have the chance at possibly owning one of these fish.

I honestly think fish in general should cost MORE; there's too much waste in this hobby. Much fewer people are willing to have a $1,000.00 fish die than $10 fish. So if we all took more time caring for our fish and breeding them like RTC has done then there would be much more interesting and naturally impossible fish hybrids available.

Let's all respect each other passions.

I see where your coming from, and I understand the price. I had no intention of complaining about the price, just showing it. If fish cost any more I would be out of the 10 bucks I have left :)

It must be the first tank bread cross over angel I thought those screw messed up clown fish were expnsive holy molly.

Did anyone notice this comment in the description on the LA DD link?

Hawaiian Reef Culture Technologies Tank Bred Resplendens x Argi Hybrid Angelfish. The majority of the the proceeds from the sale of this spectacular fish will go back to Reef Culture Technologies to help fund future endeavors.

The fish is out of my price range, but it is awesomel that LA is doing this.

I have to say I like to support sustainable aquaculture wherever and whenever possible. Can you imagine our entire hobby as a 100% sustainable industry? Man, that would be amazing.
